Lindsay Lohan fires back after Jennifer Lawrence jokes about her substance abuse
Lindsay Lohan has plenty of experience dealing with “Mean Girls” — but even she was offended by Jennifer Lawrence’s ill-advised comments last night.
The 29-year-old actress snapped back at Lawrence on Twitter — just hours after the “Hunger Games” star joked she gets so exhausted from overworking that she throws up like Lohan, “but without any drugs or alcohol.”
Lohan didn’t see the humor in Lawrence’s regrettable quip, as she promptly retweeted a jaded message from her sister, Ali, to her nine million followers.
“I never breathe life into negativity but I stand by my family,” Ali wrote. “Disappointed in Jennifer Lawrence. You lost a fan.”
Lohan only fueled the fire as she responded to the tweet immediately after, posting: “Maybe who you’re referring to should learn to support others like #mayaangelou,” along with a quote from the popular poet that served as a not-so-subtle dig at Lawrence.
“You may shoot me with your words/ You may cut me with your eyes/ You may kill me with your hatefulness/ But still, like air, I’ll Rise,” the empowering quote read.
Lawrence’s controversial comments, which came on Monday’s episode of “The Late Show,” seemed to be an unplanned, innocent joke at the expense of Lohan — who has a well-documented history of substance abuse.
Both Lohan and her sister appeared to have moved on following their tweets about Lawrence, with each sharing more upbeat, unrelated posts shortly after.
Lawrence, meanwhile, has yet to comment on the matter.
